Maine Irish Heritage Center

For generations, our iconic building has been a home to the West End. It was the parish and community center for Portland’s Irish, a place where families gathered, celebrated, grieved, and found one another. For so many in our neighborhood, it was a second home.

Today, as you walk or drive by, you’ll see scaffolding on the building. That’s us, lovingly caring for it. Renovations are underway to maintain and restore the Maine Irish Heritage Center’s home to its former beauty, so it can keep welcoming generations of neighbors to come.

Join us on Thanksgiving Saturday for an indoor block party celebrating the heart of the West End. Enjoy live music from The Orbits, food, raffles, a 50/50 drawing, and more. Bring your neighbors, your family, and your stories.

There’s a cash bar, and a suggested donation of $10 at the door. Net proceeds benefit the Maine Irish Heritage Center and its restoration.

Everyone is welcome, and there’s no need to RSVP. If you’d like to let us know you’re coming, you can RSVP below, but just showing up is wonderful too. It’s a great start to the evening if you are going to see the one and only Beatles tribute by Walrus at the State Theatre .
