About this event
Poems can teach us how to pay better attention to ourselves, to our language, and to the people and world around us. Poems can help us grieve and rejoice and laugh and express our moments of clarity and confusion. Gibson Fay-LeBlanc, poet and executive director of Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance, shares his experience in reading and writing poems, and what he has learned in the process.
Open to the public. The individual lecture is $15; register online or cash-only at the door. OLLI members can register for the entire SAGE Lecture Series for $60. This event is in person at Wishcamper Center, room 133, USM Portland, or online via Zoom.
Part of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Southern Maine SAGE Lecture Series. SAGE Lecture Series runs September 15-November 3, featuring a diverse and engaging set of speakers who explore contemporary issues and evolving cultural activities.
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at USM offers an extensive array of courses in the liberal arts and sciences for students 50 or older. There are no entrance requirements, grades, or tests; it’s your experience and love of learning that count, no college background is necessary.
