See how a real-world problem becomes a basic blueprint, then a working program — prompted by you through AI, errors and all.

Join Khoury Assistant Teaching Professor Ryan Bockmon for a live, virtual workshop on building your very first program — with AI as your collaborator, not your replacement.

In just 45 minutes, you’ll see the full development lifecycle in action: from a real-world problem to a lightweight system design, to working, executable code — brought to life through AI prompting in real time.

What to expect

• Work toward identifying a problem worth solving

• Sketch out the core logic and structure of a solution

• Prompt an AI tool together to generate a functioning program, or artifact, from that design

Along the way, we’ll dig into a question that matters more than ever: what does the human still bring to this process? You’ll watch as Dr. Bockmon debugs in real time — catching errors, spotting edge cases and blind spots, and iterating on the AI’s output — showing exactly where human judgment and technical reasoning turn a first draft into something that actually works.

No coding experience needed, and no software installation required. Whether you’re fluent in programming or have never written a line of code, you’ll walk away having seen how far a good prompt, paired with sound design thinking, can take you — fast.
