  • Louis Wolfson, a realtor from Needham, submitted a permit application for an underwater AI data center powered by tidal energy near Eastport. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary students in Brunswick spoke live with NASA astronauts Jessica Meir (the first Mainer in space) and Christopher Williams on March 20 via an event hosted by the Challenger Learning Center of Maine.  Portland Press Herald
  • Eighth grade student Tristan Singh from Rose M. Gaffney Elementary School won the Maine State Spelling Bee at Bowdoin College in Brunswick on Saturday + he promised to attend his school’s spring dance if he won and will compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May.  Portland Press Herald

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health officials are promoting universal testing to uncover hidden HIV and hepatitis C cases amid Maine’s record outbreak, with 36 confirmed cases reported in a Penobscot County cluster last January.   • Max Andreev scored twice to lead the Mariners to a *4-1* win over the Railers on Saturday at Cross Insurance Arena in Portland. The win marked their 14th in 16 games as they move closer to clinching a playoff spot.  Portland Press Herald
  • On Saturday, the USM women's lacrosse team won 15-6 at home against Castleton with standout plays by Yarmouth graduate Katelyn D'Appolonia and Elena Hanselmann, pushing their record to 5-2. Meanwhile, the St. Joe's squad also won a close game against Emmanuel the Saints, with Julia Price's key save making a difference.  WMTW
  • In a Dallas overtime loss on Saturday, the Clippers outscored the Mavericks with 41 points from Darius Garland & 34 from Kawhi Leonard, while Newport native Cooper Flagg nearly recorded a triple-double with 18 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, and four blocks.  Portland Press Herald
  • Maine Mariners beat Worcester for the second straight night as early power plays and strong goalie saves helped the team secure the win. They are pushing toward a playoff spot with 14 games left in the season.  WMTW
