ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A water main break near Westbrook Commons shut Main Street between Bridge Street & Church Street on Monday, Mar. 23, and police said the closure may last into the coming days with residents advised to take alternate routes.  FOX23

  • A retrospective piece honors R.H. Reny (founder of the Renys chain) on what would have been his 100th birthday on Mar. 23. It traces his journey from a young entrepreneur in Biddeford to establishing a family-run business that still serves Maine communities.  Portland Press Herald

CULTURE NEWS

  • The annual exhibit 'Art in Bloom' opens tomorrow at the Portland Museum of Art and will run through Saturday (featuring seasonal floral displays) to celebrate spring with a colorful mix of art and flowers.  WGME
  • Visitors enjoyed Maine Maple Sunday Weekend at Balsam Ridge Christmas Tree Farm (Raymond) where more than 100 sugarhouses showcased the maple syrup process with live music and treats; festivities will continue tomorrow statewide.  WGME

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The State of Maine vessel arrived in Portland Harbor on Saturday with a water salute and will be formally transferred to Maine Maritime Academy on March 30 for training purposes (its first purpose-built training ship).  WGME

  • During Endometriosis Awareness Month, health advocates ask Maine health institutions to boost research funding and improve physician training to better diagnose and treat endometriosis — noting that delayed diagnosis has caused prolonged pain for residents in Cape Elizabeth and Westbrook.  Portland Press Herald
