St. Joseph’s College in Standish revealed that over 23,000 Mainers’ personal data was compromised when an unauthorized party accessed its network between December 2023 and January 2024 — the college reported no evidence of identity theft despite the breach affecting more than 126,000 people nationwide.

State lawmakers are considering a bill that would expand free call access for inmates, who currently get one free 30-minute call per week if they have $10 or less in their accounts.
The proposed legislation would let more inmates use free calls + allow unlimited calls to their attorneys while facing opposition from corrections officials and sheriffs over potential cost increases.
Ella Montgomery of Ellsworth, named Varsity Maine Girls Swimmer of the Year, remained undefeated in individual races while defending her Class B state titles by winning the 100-yard butterfly in 55.12 seconds (her fastest time of the season).
