- ➤ Oxford County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a domestic violence call in Hartford shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday after an 80-year-old man reported that his 51-year-old stepson Eric Newell had assaulted him, but when Newell approached the deputies with a knife the officers shot him and he died, and the deputies were placed on administrative leave pending an attorney general investigation.
