  • Since launching Yoga for Good in 2024 at Toad + Co, Ashley Flowers has raised $2,000 for nine nonprofits through donation-based classes supporting local causes like the Adaptive Outdoor Education Center; new sessions run through September with the next on May 8.  WMTW
  • About 20 local residents joined Park Ranger Taylor Dugan and City Naturalist Angela Howard on a hike along Back Cove Trail yesterday.   • Maine's rural hospitals have closed many labor and delivery units, leaving expectant mothers in areas like Byron with longer travel times to care — health experts urge policy changes to ensure safe maternal and newborn care.  Portland Press Herald
  • South Portland’s Maine Health physician Dr. Peter Amann said the new Wegovy pill—approved for weight loss in December and available since January—shows about a 14% loss and costs $149–$299 for self-pay compared to $349 for the injection; patients are beginning follow-ups as long-term results remain unknown.  WMTW

  • Seattle Storm re-signed Gorham native Mackenzie Holmes — who played 11 games as a rookie and became Indiana University's all-time leading scorer — on Saturday. She spent the winter in Australia and China and will compete in the WNBA for a second season.  WMTW
  • During Saturday’s home opener at Fitzpatrick Stadium, Portland Hearts of Pine midfielder Masashi Wada sustained a serious lower leg injury when his leg tangled under One Knoxville goalie Johan Garibay—he was taken off by ambulance as the game ended in a 0 to 0 tie.  Portland Press Herald
  • The Portland Sea Dogs won their third game in a row over New Hampshire on Saturday at Hadlock Field. Starter John Hollenbeck struck out nine while the team scored in the fifth inning (with Marvin Alcantara driving in Caden Rose) to secure the win.  WMTW
  • Franklin Arias went 3-for-4 and scored a run while Nate Baez drove in the winning run as the Sea Dogs beat the Fisher Cats 2-1 Saturday at Hadlock Field in Portland. John Holobetz pitched four innings and Jorge Juan finished with scoreless relief to secure the win.  Portland Press Herald
  • The Maine Mariners clinched home ice in the first round of the ECHL Playoffs. Their first two games will be in Portland on April 24 (6:00 p.m.) and April 25 (6:00 p.m.)  WMTW
