- ➤ Portland was named the top small U.S. city for food and drink by Food & Wine as its working waterfront & access to fresh seafood helped drive a culinary renaissance. Chefs adapted to warming Gulf of Maine waters as local restaurants increasingly showcased locally sourced fare. WMTW
- ➤ The State Theatre in downtown Portland was named as one of five national venues nominated for the Academy of Country Music’s Venue of the Year award on Monday & the winner will be announced in August during the 19th Academy Honors in Nashville. Portland Press Herald
- ➤ Portland is hosting its 41st annual Mineral, Gem, and Jewelry Show + the largest event of its kind in southern Maine this Saturday at Brick South at Thompson’s Point. The event is organized by the Maine Mineralogical and Geological Society. FOX23
- ➤ Portland attorney David Soley grows vanilla orchids at his Freeport home and hand-pollinates each flower (using a toothpick) to create small-batch vanilla extract; his method involves carefully sweating and drying pods to bring out rich flavor. Portland Press Herald

- ➤ Poland Community School partially reopened on Monday after a drywall inspection allowed classes to resume on the first floor following flood damage on the second floor. Teachers converted a conference room into a classroom + welcomed students back. WGME
- ➤ Central Maine Power will expand its 10-week Union Trade Internship Program in 2026 for Maine high school students, doubling enrollment and adding schools in central and southern Maine. The program will run from June to August and include classroom and field training at Farmingdale for students aged 16 and older. WMTW
- ➤ Maine lawmakers passed the first school funding reform since 2005 that updates the state’s formula to include local poverty (and cost-of-living adjustments) in school finance. Gov. Mills is set to sign the bill, which takes effect for the 2027-28 school year. Portland Press Herald
