ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m., a 73-year-old man drove off the Frye Island Ferry Landing in Raymond and his car sank eight feet into Sebago Lake—good Samaritans rescued him and he was treated at Maine Medical Center while a private service was tasked with removing the car amid water contamination concerns. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Secretary of State Shenna Bellows released the final wording for a referendum bill that would require photo ID at in-person or absentee voting—and the proposal would also cut two days of absentee voting and limit drop boxes. Critics say the changes will harm seniors and rural voters, and Mainers will vote on the referendum in November. WGME
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Congress must extend the enhanced ACA tax credits before they expire at the end of the year, since nearly 55,000 Mainers rely on these credits to pay less for their health insurance.
