- ➤ Gerald Talbot, Maine's first African American legislator and civil rights leader, died Sunday at 94, officials said. He served in the Legislature from 1972 to 1978 and helped drive local equality efforts, with a Portland school now bearing his name in tribute. WMTW
- ➤ Isabelle Oss joined Maine Trust for Local News in May as the new York County reporter, covering Kittery, York, Berwick and Ogunquit + she plans to launch a weekly newsletter with local updates soon. Portland Press Herald
- ➤ An 80-mile relay race tracing the alewife migration will take place on May 23 by Wabanaki REACH. Runners will start at Split Rock in Sipayik at 5 a.m. and pass through the Passamaquoddy Reservation before reaching Forest City (Washington County). Portland Press Herald
