- ➤ Rob Burnell will organize the 3rd annual memorial bike ride on July 12 at 10:30 a.m. outside the Thomas College Ice Vault in Hallowell—honoring his late father Doug who died in a motorcycle crash in July 2018—and recognizing all motorcyclists who lost their lives. Officials with Maine DOT urge riders and drivers to share the road and wear proper gear as motorcycle crashes rise, with 111 reported statewide in 2025 and eight in June so far. WMTW

- ➤ Researchers found that centerline rumble strips on two-lane rural roads reduce head-on and sideswipe crashes by 28—48%, and MaineDOT plans to install 100 miles of the strips each year to lower the state’s high crash fatality rate.
