More than 70 Maine veterans returned home from Honor Flight Maine's trip to Washington, D.C. — families met them at Portland's international jetport, and the group will make another trip in early September.
Officials resumed and expanded search Monday morning for missing Hollis man Ralph Hughes, 76, who was last seen at his home on Mason Drive Saturday night wearing a red shirt, blue plaid fleece pants and gray shoes.
The operation involved 12 K-9 teams, drones, ground teams, aircraft and ATVs with searchers focusing on wooded areas along Cape Road while residents were asked to avoid these areas.
Maine School Administration District 6 started its summer food program on June 25 at Bonny Eagle High School, where families can pick up free meals for children ages 18 and under on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 to 10 a.m. The program will run until Aug.
15—over 225 children have already signed up and the site is open to all eligible families from Standish, Hollis, Buxton, Limington and Frye Island.
This Fourth of July, Southern Maine coastal towns will host fireworks shows and local festivities.
Portland’s Eastern Promenade will feature food trucks and the Casco Bay Wind Symphony before fireworks launch from the East End Trail around 9:15 p.m., while South Portland (which does not allow consumer fireworks) and towns like Old Orchard Beach, Kennebunk/Kennebunkport, Ogunquit, and York will present their own events.
Westbrook police charged six people after a drug raid near a Brackett Street home last Tuesday and seized over 60 grams of fentanyl and nearly 25 grams of meth— a car stop led officers to the scene.
At sunset on Sunday, water lanterns lit up Deering Oaks Park as the festival supported charities and non-profit organizations—bringing a magical display to the local community.
