- ➤ About 100 people protested outside Portland International Jetport Saturday to urge a boycott of Avelo Airlines because of its contract with ICE. Avelo said it only flies to New Haven and has not flown deportees from here—protesters call on officials to reconsider the airline's incentives. Portland Press Herald
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Protesters rallied outside the Portland Jetport on Saturday to oppose Avelo Airlines’ contract with ICE to fly federal deportation flights. The airline signed the deal in April for a new nonstop route from Portland to New Haven, and its landing fees are waived under Jetport rules — no deportation flights have yet occurred. WMTW
- ➤ Maine Gov. Janet Mills signed a healthcare bill to improve education for providers on perimenopause and menopause—actress Halle Berry testified in March after experiencing years of misdiagnoses. The bill will take effect Sept. 24, 90 days after the legislature adjourns. WMTW
