  • Friends of Casco Bay invites community members to join a cleanup at Back Cove Trail on Monday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Volunteers will receive gloves and bags — with closed-toe shoes and reusable water bottles recommended — to help remove marine debris and microplastics from the coastal area.  FOX23

  • Police arrested 61-year-old Jean Gendron from South Carolina on Thursday morning after he robbed Chase Bank at Rock Row in Westbrook—he was caught getting off a bus in New Hampshire.  FOX23

  • The 2025 Circus Smirkus Big Top Tour: Game On! brought board games to life with high-energy circus acts at the Cumberland Fairgrounds. Two shows took place on Friday and two will run today at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.  FOX23
  • Best-selling author Adam Higginbotham will discuss his book Challenger: A True Story of Heroism and Disaster on the Edge of Space at Vinegar Hill Music Theatre in Arundel at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 9—Fall Author Night, hosted by Graves Library in Kennebunkport, will be open to the public.  Portland Press Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Portland officials will vote next week at City Council and planning board meetings on a moratorium that may stop plans for a new 3,300-seat music hall by Live Nation and Mile Marker Investments. The music hall — which would create 250 jobs and host many concerts — has split opinions as residents worry about parking, traffic, and the future for local shows.  Portland Press Herald
