  • Hundreds gathered on Federal Street between India and Hampshire for the 100th Italian Bazaar hosted by St Peter’s Parish, where families enjoyed food stands with pasta dishes and cannolis, games for kids, and low-stakes gambling for adults. The event, held on the Feast Day of Saint Rocco, raised funds for the parish.  WGME

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An Amtrak train hit a pedestrian at 6:10 p.m. on Saturday in Scarborough near the Pine Point Road overpass — the victim was pronounced dead at the scene and police said the investigation is ongoing.  Portland Press Herald

CRIME NEWS

  • Maine State Police are investigating a homicide in Waldoboro after officers discovered the body of 53-year-old Levern Kelley during a well-being check on Genther Road Saturday morning+ her body was taken to the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for an autopsy on Sunday, and officials confirmed her death was ruled a homicide with no public threat.  WMTW
  • On Sunday, a boat procession in Tenants Harbor honored Sunshine Stewart — a St. George paddleboarder found dead after going missing on Crawford Pond in July — while a 17-year-old from Frankfort faces a murder charge with a court conference set for August 22.  Portland Press Herald

CULTURE NEWS

  • This week, Maine will offer a range of cultural events—including Footlights Theatre’s 'Feelin’ Groovy' show in Falmouth from Tuesday at 7 p.m., an inflatable park at Cumberland Fairgrounds, and a Lewiston-Auburn Balloon Festival with rides, music, and pancake breakfasts from Friday to Sunday—and the Highland Games at Windsor on Saturday and Sunday. Portland hosts Watchhouse on Friday at 8 p.m. and Augusta stages singer Halley Elwell’s album release show on Sunday at 4 p.m.  Portland Press Herald
