CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police are searching for three teens who escaped Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland today around 12:30 p.m.—two 17-year-olds and one 14-year-old—and ask anyone with information to call 911. Portland Press Herald
- ➤ On Friday, police responded to reports of gunshots outside the McDonald's at 790 Roosevelt Trail as a shooting occurred in North Windham—Route 302 at Landing Road was closed for an extended time while investigators gathered more details. WMTW
- ➤ Emil Girard, 26, who was arrested at the York County Jail for shootings in Biddeford on July 31 and August 4, was also charged by Saco police with robbery and aggravated assault after he attacked a woman in the Aroma Joe’s parking lot on July 8 — his bail for the Saco charges was set at $50,000. - ➤ Police issued a shelter-in-place order on Route 302 from Route 85 in Raymond to Whites Bridge Road in Windham after a reported shooting shortly after 4 p.m., and a cellphone alert told residents to lock doors and stay indoors as officers from Windham police, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Maine State Police searched for a gunman — anyone with information was asked to call 207-624-7076. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Maine Forest Service cautions residents and visitors that no burn permits will be issued as wildfire danger remains high across the state. MFS Director Patty Cormier said the moratorium follows 525 fires this year — 124 since early August. WMTW
- ➤ County officials closed part of Route 115 near 341 Tandberg Trail in Windham due to a brush fire that forced a shutdown just before 1:45 p.m. Friday. The Maine Forest Service said fire danger statewide was high — with some areas facing very high risk. WMTW

- ➤ Portland Downtown launched its Ambassador Program over a month ago to address nearly 3,000 complaints about trash, graffiti, needles and human waste in downtown. The program uses a QR code+that directs residents to the See Click Fix website+which helps officials quickly report and resolve issues. FOX23
