- ➤ Skyline Farm celebrates 25 years of conservation and community on its 54-acre property as volunteers host events like carriage rides, trail hikes, and seasonal sleigh rides. The nonprofit will explore new attractions—such as donkeys pulling carriages—to engage younger visitors and maintain public support. Portland Press Herald
- ➤ The first ever Bug Light Food Truck Festival will take place Saturday at Bug Light Park in South Portland—offering many food options and scenic views of Portland Harbor—and feature historical insights from Seth Goldstein of the South Portland Historical Society. WGME

- ➤ A Maine mother, Casey Henderson — from Somerset County — filed an 83-page lawsuit this week in U.S. District Court accusing Microsoft and developers of Roblox, Fortnite and Minecraft of building addictive features without proper safeguards. The suit seeks over $75,000 in compensation for her 9-year-old child's withdrawal symptoms, diminished social interactions and reduced interest in activities. WMTW

- ➤ Maine's drought is getting worse as over 5% of the state is in extreme drought and nearly two-thirds face dry conditions with the entire coastline in severe drought — meteorologists say rain may come next week but its strength is still uncertain amid high fire danger. Portland Press Herald
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Maine Indian Tribal State Commission has continued reviewing the Maine Indian Land Claims Settlement Act and issued reports that have shaped legislative changes while managing fishing regulations and public education about the Wabanaki people. Gov. Mills, despite leaving four state seats unfilled, increased support for the commission with the 2022 Tribal-State Collaboration Act and extra funding—enabling the hiring of two full-time staff members—so it can further review important agreements and oversee new projects. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ MaineHealth has expanded Trellis Health, a membership-based primary care system letting employers and individuals pay $109 a month for fast access to a care team including doctors, nurse practitioners and a pharmacist. The program, available to employees since 2024 and now open to the public, aims to cut emergency room visits and improve care—offering same week appointments and longer consultations. - ➤ Portland has expanded walk-in hours for fall vaccines at its Forest Avenue public health center. Kids and uninsured adults can get a flu shot on Mondays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.—COVID-19 vaccine shots will soon be available with a new executive order from Governor Janet Mills. FOX23
