University of Maine men’s hockey lost 4-3 to Holy Cross in overtime Saturday in Worcester, Massachusetts after forcing extra time with two late third-period goals by Isa Parekh and Lee Parks, and the Black Bears (1-1) will host Quinnipiac for their first home games Friday and Saturday at 7-p.m.
UMaine football lost to Sacred Heart 24-16 on Saturday in Orono + Nick Laughlin scored a fourth quarter touchdown as the Black Bears fell to 1-5 and will host Bryant on Oct.

Atticus Merriam of Scarborough won the boys race at the 25th Festival of Champions on Saturday at Troy Howard Middle School in Belfast (15:21.18) by edging out Dirigo’s William Morris (15:21.33), while Falmouth’s Georgia Moon claimed the girls race in 17:24.51.
