- ➤ Maine has sued protester John Andrade for allegedly making too much noise outside Planned Parenthood in Portland, and the attorney general’s office is seeking to bar him from coming within 150 feet—an effort to stop him from interfering with health care services. Portland Press Herald

- ➤ Historic photos show a street sweeper, delivery person and weather forecaster working downtown in Portland from the 1930s to the 1960s—capturing everyday work life from a different era. Portland Press Herald
- ➤ Portland's State Theatre hosts Hokus Pokus Live! on Saturday at 8 p.m.—a drag show inspired by the classic film with tickets priced at $59.50. - ➤ Scarborough Town Council approved up to $50,000 for a new dock and ramp floats at Pine Point after local fishermen asked for more space on the working waterfront. Most of the funds—$37,000—will be used to install the dock this winter to boost commercial and recreational access. Portland Press Herald
- ➤ Campaign volunteers are canvassing Brunswick and Topsham as Maine voters prepare to decide on Question One in the November referendum, which will ask if photo ID should be required and if absentee and drop box rules should change. State Rep. Laurel Libby supports the measure and says it will add security to elections — a change that follows similar moves in 36 other states. WGME
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ East Brown Cow Management LLC has proposed a 30-story mixed-use tower at 45 Union St in the Old Port that would become Maine’s tallest building at about 380 feet. City staff reviewed the proposal on Sept. 23 and the planning board is expected to receive an updated plan in the next three to six months—final permits and construction are still pending. - ➤ More than 5,000 runners gathered at Back Cove in Portland to start the 34th Maine Marathon on Sunday morning at 7:45 a.m.—Sammy Mills and Emma Howe won the men’s and women’s divisions—and the race, a Boston Marathon qualifier, donated $20,000 each to In Her Presence, Grahamtastic Connection and Children’s Odyssey.
