EDUCATION NEWS

  • Twenty-nine schools held a 2025 mock election where 65.1% of students voted against a measure to change absentee voting and 79.5% supported a law letting courts block access to dangerous weapons—70.8% also felt the Declaration of Independence remains relevant. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Mills announced a $1.25 million package to support anti-hunger programs as 170,000 Mainers face the loss of SNAP benefits due to a government shutdown. The funds come from $1 million in the state contingency account and $250,000 from the John T. Gorman Foundation — aimed at providing food assistance for families in need.  FOX23
  • Biddeford is hosting the Mayor's Summit on Hunger Friday from 10:30 a.m. to Noon at the Lincoln Hotel—aiming to address gaps in SNAP benefits caused by the shutdown.
