- ➤ Operations at Woodland Pulp in Baileyville will stop on November 20th and resume on December 17th—causing roughly 150 workers to be laid off as the mill shifts from hardwood to softwood amid a global drop in demand. - ➤ Foxcroft Academy capped an undefeated season with a win of 4 to 1 over Spruce Mountain in the Class C field hockey championship game at Lewiston High’s Don Roux Field—Jaiyde True scored two penalty corner goals—helping the Ponies secure their fourth title since 2007. Portland Press Herald
- ➤ Spruce Mountain beat Mt. Ararat 20 to 14 in the eight man Large School South final in Livermore Falls on Saturday — the win pushes the Phoenix into the state title game where they will face Camden Hills next Saturday at Edward Little High School. - ➤ Maine football beat Hampton 35-7 in a Coastal Athletic Association game in Hampton, Virginia on Saturday—Carter Peevy threw four touchdown passes to lead the Black Bears to their sixth straight win. Portland Press Herald
- ➤ Yesterday, the University of Southern Maine women’s soccer team beat Western Connecticut 3—0 in Gorham to win its fourth straight Little East Conference title. The Huskies earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament with the bracket set to be announced Monday at 11 a.m. Portland Press Herald
- ➤ The Cape Elizabeth High girls soccer team won a 3—0 victory over Hermon in the Class B state championship on Saturday at Edward Little High—Hailey Gorman scored twice while Noelle Mallory added a goal. Portland Press Herald
- ➤ The Maine Mariners defeated the Worcester Railers 8 to 1 Saturday night as Lynden McCallum scored his first three goals during a five-goal second period—helping secure their second straight blowout win. Xavier Lamppa, Linus Helmstrom, Jacob Hudson, Jaxon Bellamy and Robert Cronin each contributed as the Mariners remained tied for first in the North Division. Portland Press Herald
