- ➤ Today, Hot Radio Maine partnered with Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger and That Place in Ogunquit to give away complete Thanksgiving dinners in Wells—over 200 turkeys and sides donated by MC Perkins Cove were handed out. WMTW
- ➤ Volunteers in Saco prepared Thanksgiving meals for over 200,000 people (a tradition spanning 26 years) while volunteers at South Portland Preble Street Food Pantry baked focaccia and assembled 700 meal boxes. - ➤ Mark Curdo of WCYY Radio will host the 17th annual Markathon from December 2 through December 7, playing wild requests and collecting donations for The Center for Grieving Children — a cause that supports children coping with loss. - ➤ Volunteers baked 90 pies at the Preble Street Resource Center (with Thanksgiving just days away) to feed hundreds of people experiencing homelessness. - ➤ Diane Bell, 75, from Westbrook was struck by a car while running with friends in Portland on November 20 and was remembered for her generous spirit and active life. Portland Press Herald
- ➤ An elderly woman in Andover was burned when her oxygen tubing ignited as she used a heat-based hair-removal device just before 10 p.m. on Monday on Horseshoe Pond Road—she was taken to Rumford Hospital and then airlifted to Maine Medical Center. WGME
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Christmas at Victoria Mansion will open tomorrow and run through January 4, offering a display of 1800s holiday decorations (a tradition in Portland since 1981). Visitors will experience a unique look back at historic celebrations. FOX23
- ➤ The Portland Festival of Trees on Congress Street will kick off on November 28 to support the Children's Dyslexia Center of Portland. Over 30 specialized Christmas trees with presents will be raffled off along with a 50/50 raffle, an L.L.
