Register Online University of Maine Cooperative Extension, Wolfe’s Neck Center for Agriculture and the Environment, and the University of New Hampshire are offering a workshop on managing cover crops in high tunnels.
Cover crops can improve soil health and provide other benefits, but fitting them into high tunnels can be difficult. Tight crop rotations and the high value of crops grown in these spaces can make it challenging to find room and time for cover crops.
During this workshop, participants will tour high tunnels at Wolfe’s Neck Center and discuss the planning and management considerations involved in incorporating cover crops into high tunnel production.
The workshop is designed for farmers and gardeners who use high tunnels at any scale. Participants should have a basic understanding of high tunnel growing, as this workshop focuses on cover crop management rather than high tunnel fundamentals.
Parking
Park in the Smith Center lot next to the high tunnel. The Smith Center is a modern-looking building.
Cost and registration
The workshop is free, but registration is required. Space is limited to 30 participants. Registration closes on November 11, 2026.
If you need reasonable accommodation, please contact Ava Sharpe at 207.581.8362 or ava.sharpe@maine.edu by Thursday, November 5, 2026.
